Ceramic Fiber Stones
■Meister Finish
* How can the tool be used?
The tip of ceramic fiber stone has grinding force.
Use the tip at a certain angle to the surface of a workpiece for polishing (approximately 5~45 degrees is effective.)
* Can the side of the tool be used?
There is no grinding force on the side of the tool.
Use the tip at a certain angle to the surface of a workpiece for polishing.
* Isn’t the tool broken?
It has no breakage, no cracking, and no chipping due to alumina fiber filaments are bound and hardened by the resin binder.
Even though its thickness is 0.5mm, it can be used for polishing. Optimal for polishing the narrow area such as removing EDM scales in the area of deep rib.
* Why isn’t the tool clogged?
It’s because of the self-sharpening action, cutting edge on the alumina fiber filaments tip is continuously recovered by polishing.
Wet processing is recommended for polishing aluminum alloy.
* What kind of workpiece can be processed?
Target workpiece is all kind of metal of which hardness is less than HRC57; NAK80, STAVAX, S45C, etc for plastic mold.
*XEBEC Diamond is recommended to use for the material harder than HRC57
(from hardened steel to cemented carbide).

It can be used with ultrasonic, air or electric vibration tool.
When used with ultrasonic tool, we recommend XEBEC heat-resistant Ceramic Abrasives that are specially designed for ultrasonic tool.
* Can the tool be used with oil coolant?
It can be used with water-soluble coolant, oil-soluble coolant or kerosene etc.
Wet processing results high polishing efficiency than dry processing.
* How can the tool be formed?
Forming such as thinning the tip of the tool can be possible by an electrodeposited diamond stone or paper file.
(abrasive grain C)

■XEBEC Heat-Resistant Ceramic Abrasives
* What is the difference from Meister Finish?
We succeeded in increasing the resistance temperature from 100℃ to 200℃ and specially designed for ultrasonic tool.
So its durability and polishing efficiency was enhanced.
* Can the tool be used with besides ultrasonic tool?
It can be used with air or electric vibration tool. Of course it can be used by hand.

■XEBEC Diamond

As diamond abrasive grains are evenly embed in its inside unlike electrodeposited diamond stone,
it can be used till the end.
* What kind of material can be polished?
Materials harder than HRC57 such as cemented carbide, hardened steel that Meister Finish can’t match can be polished.
For materials softer than HRC57, Meister Finish is recommended to use.

Cutting Fiber
■For machine use
* How long is tool life?
It depends on the deburring process condition and burr size (base thickness).
It is quite wide range from a few thousand pieces to 20 or 30 thousand pieces We have successful applications as follows.
  • Tool life of “A11CB25M” is 5 million holes / piece in the deburring process after drilling with ø1.5 mm diameter for Aluminum alloy.
  • Tool life of “A11CB15M “ is 5 thousand units / piece in the deburring process after grinding process for sintered metal.
* How can forming and dressing be made?
The easiest and most inexpensive way is to press the brush onto abrasive paper with coarse abrasive grain C (equivalent to #80) attached on a board with the brush rotation. Using an electrodeposited diamond stone is recommended. More efficiently and beautiful forming or dressing can be made.
* Can the tool be used for dry processing?
Of course it can be used for dry processing.
Deburring can be processed for dry processing. However in generally more efficient processing can be obtained and tool life is prolonged for wet processing. More efficient processing can be obtained for wet processing.
For surface grinding please refer to the chart material by material.
* Can aluminum workpiece be processed?
Yes. Deburring can be processed for dry processing. However wet processing is recommended for surface grinding to prevent clogging.
* Does the tool contain abrasive grains?
It does not contain any abrasive grains. It consists of only alumina fiber filament and binder. The alumina fiber filament itself is abrasive material.
As the structure of the rod section is continuously constant, the cutting edges are continuously produced by the self-sharpening action of the fine alumina fiber rod tips.
This provides stable and continuous grinding performance even though tool is worn during processing.
* What torque should be needed for tool rotation?
Use the motor that have more than 0.5kw power output for ø60 ,ø100 or more than 0.35kw power output for ø40.

■Floating Holder
* What is the shank diameter?
It is ø12mm diameter, so it can be equipped in drilling machine.
* Can the spring load be changed?
It can be changed by replacing the inside spring after taking two screws off.

Cross-Hole Deburring Tool
■Ceramic Stone Type
* How long is the tool life?
Over 30 times longer life than with an elastic grindstone, and over 10 times longer life than with a mounted vitrified wheel according to the date of XEBE testing.
* Can we select other grit than regular product line?
Please select desired one from three grades of grit in regular product line.
* What is the abrasive stone made of?
It is made of ceramic fiber stone for plastic mold polishing.
* Custom-made product can be applied?
Only regular product line is available.
* What kind of workpiece material can be processed?
Metal softer than HRC57 such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, general steel, copper etc. can be processed.
* Can you process by inserting the tool from the secondary processed hole?
We have successful applications that contouring of the cross-hole can be processed with a machining center, utilizing the flexibility of the shaft.
* How big is the diameter of the tool head?
There are 4 sizes,ø3 mm, ø4 mm, ø5 mm, ø6 mm.
* How much is the cutting depth (cutting load)?
Use bending displacement of 2 mm (cutting load 500 gf) or less.

■Alumina Fiber Rod Type

* What rpm should be needed?
First select applicable tool for target bore diameter.
Use at 10,000rpm as a guideline for deburring under rotational / centrifugal force.
However minimum rpm of 8000rpm is needed.
* How long is the tool life?
4,500 holes could be processed for the cross-hole deburring (refer to *1) by “CH-A12-5M” in a certain test condition.
*1 Material; S45C, Bore diameter in primary processing; ø10 mm, Bore diameter in secondary processing; ø5 mm.
It is over 7 times longer life than with a nylon brush with diamond abrasives-impregnated nylon brush, and over 3 times longer than with Product F.
Actual tool life becomes more, because it can be used continuously even after deburring 4,500 holes simply by increasing RPM.
* How big burr can be removed?
This tool is designed for removal of fine burrs where the base thickness is 0.1 mm or less after machine processing.
* What is the fiber rods made of?
Alumina fiber filaments are bound by the binder (resin) and then made into rods.
Alumina fiber filaments become abrasive material.
* What kind of rotary machine can be used with?
This tool can be used with NC lathe, custom machine, but more than 8,000rpm is needed as rotational / centrifugal force is utilized (maximum RPM is 12,000 rpm).
If rpm is not enough, increase rpm by using air spindle or multiplying spindle.
* What is the level of surface roughness after processing?
Rmax of approximately 2.2μm can be achieved.
Ra depends on initial surface roughness, but approximately 0.1μm can be achieved.
* What kind of successful applications do you have?
We have successful applications that cross-hole deburring for automobile engine parts and the polishing the bottom surface of dead-end hole after drilling, end milling etc.
* What kind of work can be processed?
Metal softer than HRC57 such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, general steel, copper etc. can be processed.
We have successful Applications for fine deburring of cemented carbide.
* Doesn’t wet (oil) processing have any problems?
It can be used for both dry and wet processing.
* Does the process affect the internal bore diameter in primary processing?
Depending on the processing condition, grinding amount of internal surface is a few μm.
* What is the applicable range of bore diameter?
Three sizes of brush diameter applies to the bore diameter in primary processing from ø5mm to ø20mm.
* Is the brush shape deformed during the processing?
As there is virtually no fiber rod configurational change such as distortion or expansion of the rod in the deburring process unlike nylon brush or wire brush, more consistently stable deburring and grinding performance on tip of the rod can be attained.
